Chapter 7

Later that evening, Kenneth and Integra sat in bed. Both had stunned expressions on their faces. It had been a rather eventful day indeed. They still couldn't believe how Megan knew of Integra's pregnancy without being told before hand. And more than that, Integra was informed she would give birth to a baby boy.

"Integra, can you be absolutely sure this woman is for real? I mean, she could have heard whispers from any number of people around here that you're pregnant." Kenneth said with a skeptical tone.

"Alucard tested her mind with her permission. I do not doubt his senses. He saw no falsehood within her. As hard as it was to believe, she has spoken the truth." Integra replied.

"I...I just don't know what to believe anymore Integra. You're being pregnant is something we all expected. But Seras being pregnant, a woman telling you you're going to have a son when she didn't even know you are pregnant..."

"I know. Perhaps in some strange way this is a lesson to all of us. We know little about the world around us, and even less about what lies beyond it." Integra said.

"Maybe so. I guess I should know better than to be skeptical seeing as I married into a vampire eradicating organization that employs two vampires." Kenneth replied.

"As the next several months progress, I think we will all learn to be a little less skeptical of a great many things." Integra said as she looked over at her clock.

"There is one thing that no one seems to have adressed that could be a problem." Kenneth replied.

"And that is?" Integra asked.

"What if Simon's ex-partner finds out he's not dead? What if the people hired to get rid of him trace him to us?" Kenneth asked.

"Then I feel very sorry for the fools who try to gain access to this mansion to get him. It's getting late. We should get some sleep." Integra answered.

In the sublevels of the mansion, Alucard and Seras were also pondering what they had learned that night. Alucard reclined upon Seras's bed. Seras lay beside him with her head nestled on his chest.

"We're going to have a daughter." She said softly.

"Yes." Alucard replied.

"You were hoping for a son, weren't you?" Seras asked.

"All fathers hope to have sons, but I'm glad we are having a daughter." Alucard answered.

"You are?"

"Yes I am. She will grow up to be a strong, noble and beautiful vampire princess. I imagine her with flawless porceline skin, ruby red eyes, gorgeous long dark hair with just a hint of crimson."

"For heaven's sake Alucard, she hasn't even developed into an embryo yet." Seras said.

"I know it sounds ridiculous, the idea of me looking forward to being a father. This isn't a fledgling. This isn't a human I turned into a vampire, taught a few things and then left on its own. This is a child...our child. At last I can be something other than someone's master. I can be a father, a true father." Alucard replied.

"I still can't believe that what Simon was experimenting with made this happen. As anxious as I am about being a mother, there's a part of me that can't help but worry about what would happen if something like this ever got into the wrong hands. From the way he talked about his partner Eric, it may already have." Seras said.

"Then we hunt the bastard down and make sure he doesn't get to exploit what he stole."

"I'm getting hungry again. This is defintely your daughter because she already has your appetite." Seras said rubbing her tummy.

"I'll go get you something from the stash. I could use a little something myself." Alucard replied as he vanished.

A few weeks passed since Megan Le Fay and Simon Chesterson came upon the Hellsing organization. Integra decided it to be advantageous to keep them under her roof for the time being. She hoped Simon could perhaps shed some light on the freak phenomena and Megan could help she and Seras have smoother pregnancies. Things had been busy for Alucard and the human troops. With Seras out of action due to her pregnancy, the vampire and the human soldiers had to step it up against the creatures of the night that opposed them. It was on a night like this night that the human troops realized just how much they took Seras for granted.

A particularly nasty band of freaks decided to throw a little party in an abandoned church in the village of Cheddar. Ghouls ran rampant through the area. Pickman led a unit of troops to deal with the problem. It was up to Alucard to take care of the freaks responcible for the mess. He walked casually toward the church. He saw what appeared to be young men dancing wildly around a bonfire made of church pews, hymnal books, bibles and anything else they could set ablaze. A boombox was near by playing music by the Sex Pistols. They were dressed in torn off jeans, leather jackets, combat boots and shredded tee shirts. Some had long hair while others had short buzzed hair and still others were shaved bald.

Alucard got a wide smile on his face as he unholstered his Jackul. Maybe these hooligans would provide him a little entertainment. One of the freaks looked toward Alucard's direction.

"Hey, who invited you?" He demanded.

"Oh me...I've just come to crash your little party." Alucard replied smoothly.

"Piss off!" Another freak yelled.

"Such disrespectful children. Didn't your mother teach you to respect your elders?" Alucard asked.

"I taught my mother respect right before I sucked her dry!"

"It's time somebody taught you undisciplined, disrespectful, little piss ants a lesson. And I guess that someone is going to have to be me." Alucard said as his maniacal grin widened.

"There's ten of us and only one of you. We're gonna tear your ass up, and throw it on this bonfire!" One of the thugs yelled.

"Really? I'd love to see you try." Alucard replied. "You little punks think you can take on a creature like me? Go ahead. Give it your best shot. I'll even let one of you bastards have the first swing."

"You got balls old man. Maybe I'll just rip em off and shove em down your throat." The gang leader called.

"What are you waiting for then? Come at me if you dare!" Alucard challenged.

The leader rushed at Alucard with a two by four made out of wood. He swung the weapon and smashed it against Alucard's neck. He fell backwards from the impact. The leader turned around raising his hands in victory to his fellow cohorts. They pumped their fists in the air thinking they were about to have easy pickings of their rival.

"Yah! I showed that old bastard!" The leader shouted.

"What...what's wrong? I just kicked this guy's ass!" He asked when his companions suddenly went silent and got terrified expressions on their faces. The leader turned around to find Alucard standing up with a demonic grin on his face. There was no sign of the impact from the two by four.

"Please tell me you can do better than that." Alucard replied baring his long white fangs. He grabbed the leader by the throat and hoisted him far off the ground. The freak looked down with terrified eyes into Alucard's wildly glowing ones.

"You're...you're a vampire!" He gasped.

"No shit sherlock." Alucard growled as he thrust his hand into the leader's chest ripping through his heart. The freak let out a scream and disintegrated into ash.

Another gang member grabbed a long iron rod and charged toward Alucard with it. "He's mine!" He yelled as he ran like a maniac toward Alucard.

"Yes! YES! That's more like it! Come at me! Attack me!" The vampire yelled with maniacal laughter.

The young thug held his weapon like a lance in a jousting content. He rammed it foward impaling Alucard through the center of his chest. Still holding onto the makeshift sphere, he thrust it upward moving it toward Alucard's throat. The vampire could feel his rib cage crack in several places as the metal ripped through. But where most would be either unconcious or writhing in pain, Alucard just stood there laughing like a mad man.

"What the hell?" The thug asked shocked that his attack was not having the affect he had hoped for. Alucard stood still with a five foot metal rod protruding through his torso. It stuck at an angle with the front pointed toward his feet while the back was upwards toward his upper spine and head. He reached around and started tugging the offending thing from his flesh. After he completely removed the rod from his body he looked at it for a moment seeing blood dripping from it. He ran his gloved hand across the thing removing the blood from surface. He snapped his hand once splattering the blood to the ground. As if moving upon its own, it oozed back toward him and was absorbed into his body through his boots.

"Nice...but your technique leaves a great deal to be desired. Now it's time to show you how it's really done." Alucard replied and grabbed the second freak by his head and forced him to his knees.

"Open wide." Alucard said in a devilish tone and proceeded to ram the sphere down the hooligan's throat. He forced it down until the end came out another opening farther down. The other punks watched in both astonishment and horror as Alucard hoisted his prey upward letting the flailing body slide down the metal pole. The victim could not even scream in pain as his vocal chords had been effectively destroyed. Alucard turned his victim upright and drove the bottom of the stake into the ground. He stopped for a moment to admire his work.

He turned to the remaining targets with a cruel and sadistic smile. "Now that is how you impale someone." He said as he aimed his Jackul.

"As much as I'd love to stay here and watch you suffer, unfortunately I don't have the time." He said with a slight hint of disappointment as he pulled the trigger. The silverbullet exploded from the barrel and right into the freaks heart. Like the leader, that one too disintigrated into ash.

"So which one of you two bit little terrors wants to go next?" He asked with a sinister chuckle.

#####################################################

"There's another one over here sir!" A soldier shouted firing off a shot at an advancing ghoul.

"How the hell many more are we going to have to shoot to end this?" Pickman barked shooting at two more ghouls.

"We could sure use Seras right now!" Another soldier yelled.

"That's for bloody sure! Behind you!" Pickman shouted. "You over there! Take the men and spread out! I want to make sure whatever ghouls remain don't get away and start this all over again!"

"Yes sir!" The soldier answered.

#####################################################

Alucard stood amidst the piles of dust and ash that had once been his targets. "Targets are silenced." He said with a wicked smile. He holstered his gun. He looked down at the boombox which was now playing 'Anarchy in the UK,' and the bonfire which was still burning strong. He looked up toward the sky. The symbols on his gloves began to glow.

"I call upon the storm. Do my bidding!" He called. Clouds gathered and thunder rumbled. As soon as he gave the order, rain began to fall. Of course, Alucard couldn't just whip up a little shower to put out the fire. He decided to conjure up a deluge. His shadows emerged and sheilded him from the pounding rain. He watched as the fire was quickly extinguished. The boombox short circuted from the massive amounts of water that hit it.

Satisfied with his work, Alucard left the scene to inform the soldiers. He found Pickman and his troops dripping wet from the massive shower. None of them were very amused with the vampire. He only smirked at the humans.

"The targets are silenced. I trust you humans were able to clean up the mess they made."

"Yah, we got the ghouls. Although the next time you decide to call up a bloody typhoon you could kindly warn us first!" Pickman shouted.

"Oh stop complaining. You're still alive aren't you? Besides, you needed a bath anyway." Alucard chuckled as he vanished.

"Damit Alucard!" Pickman shouted.
