Cry To Me

Cry To Me By Heart

"Poor little dreamer

Stand inside the door

You can't find the easy rhymes

Of time you had before

It hurts my heart so bad

Seeing you sigh and shake

Broken down so low - so sad

I can't let you break

Cry to me - Cry to me

You better not hide it

Let it come - let it bleed

I ain't laughing - reach in and get it

And set it free Cry to me - Cry to me

The glass is empty and the wine Is bitter on your tongue

People don't seen wild and fine

Like when you were young

You're lonesome over a stormy ocean

Lost in the rain and wind

We can clear these clouds away

And feel the sun again"

The day was coming to a close. Walter and his sister sat in the kitchen having tea. Victoria and Alucard were still in the guest room with the windows covered so the sun would not harm them. Integra was in her room by herself. The four remaining members of Hellsing had been hit hard by the betrayal of the Round Table Conference. Peter was dead. The remaining forces had either been arrested as terrorist or were dead as well. Hellsing house was gone and all that remained of the once great organization were Integra, Walter, Alucard and Victoria. Walter and Victoria did not bother Hellsing's leader. They could not get her to open up despite the fact they both knew she was the one hardest hit by the tragedy. There was only one that would be able to get her to let go of her pride and start the healing process, Alucard. He got up from where Victoria lay sleeping and looked out into the hall. The sun had gone down enough where it was safe for him to leave his and Victoria's room. Victoria opened her eyes to find her master standing in the doorway.

"Master?" She asked rubbing her eyes.

"I'm going to see Integra. I need to make sure she's all right." Alucard answered.

"Walter and I have already tried talking to her. She says she's all right." Victoria said.

"She may say she that, but I know otherwise. She will open up to me when she won't to anyone else. The sun is setting. Go tell Walter I will be with Integra for a little while and not to worry about her." Alucard replied.

"Yes master."

Alucard walked toward Integra's room. Her door was closed but that wasn't a hindrance to him. He simply walked through it. It was something that could be a real annoyance to Integra, but tonight he was not trying to annoy her. "Integra, are you all right?" He asked.

"I'm fine. I've been asked this three times now. I'm fine. Now leave me alone." Integra said coldly.

"That may work on Walter and the police girl, but you should know by now you can't fool me that easily." Alucard replied.

"I don't want to talk about it. I just want to be alone." Integra protested.

"You don't need to be alone right now. Why do you insist upon carrying this burden by yourself?" Alucard asked.

"Because it is mine to bear. It was my blind trust in the Round Table Conference that allowed this whole travesty to happen. It's my fault Hellsing is in shambles. Many brave men have died because of me. Peter died because of me."

"Peter died for what he believed in. He chose his path when he joined Hellsing, and he knew damn well that every day could be his last. Do you honestly believe you were the cause of his death and the deaths of those in your service? Do you think that Walter and the police girl do not suffer loss as well? They are members of Hellsing too. They have a right to share in this burden that you try to take all to yourself." Alucard said firmly.

"Are you enjoying this? Coming in here and making me feel three times as guilty as I feel now." Integra said.

"No, I'm not enjoying this. Do you think I enjoy seeing you like this? Do you think it does my heart good to see my master in such pain? No it does not. I'm trying to help you so give the Ice Queen shit a rest will you." Alucard replied sternly.

Integra couldn't believe what she'd just heard. Alucard sometimes found amusement in teasing and playing with her mind, but never would he dare to get out of line like this. She looked up fiercely. Her eyes narrowed and glared straight at Alucard.

"How dare you speak to me that way? I am your master damnit! You don't give me orders!" She yelled. She tried to keep her composure despite the fact that she was losing it. She didn't want him to be right. She didn't want to let go of her emotions. But if she didn't let go, the build up would do her more harm than good. Alucard's face became very serious. His tone softened.

"I can feel the pain inside you Integra. If you don't let it go then it will destroy you. It's time to let it go."

She could feel the tears filling her eyes. Her body began to tremble. Alucard walked up to her. "Just for a little while, stop being Hellsing's leader. You don't need to give orders right now. You don't need to be responcible for anyone except yourself. Grief isn't meant to be kept in one's heart. I do not say this to you as your servant. I say this to you as someone who respects you." Alucard said cupping Integra's face with his hands. Integra looked into the scarlette orbs of her vampire servant.

"You, do?" Her voice cracked as she spoke.

"For all the time you have been my master." Alucard replied.

Integra fell into his arms and at last the tears began to fall. Alucard caught her before she fell to the floor and carried her to her bed. He gently placed her on the bed and sat beside her. She pressed her head against his chest and wept uncontrollably.

"Why did they hate me so much? Why did they want to see me fail?" She sobbed.

"Men fear change. They fear the loss of power they once had." Alucard replied.

"I wasn't trying to take their power. I was only trying to do right by my father. I only wanted him to be proud of me."

"He is proud of you. You held your own while so many others ran. It was your strength that allowed Hellsing to go as far as it did. So long have you had to prove yourself. You don't have to prove yourself to anyone now. You've had to be strong for others. It's time to let us be your strength now." Alucard said.

Integra could say nothing more. She was too overcome by her grief and sorrow to speak. It didn't matter to Alucard. He saw no more need for words at the moment. He simply kept his arms around her and cradled her as a loving father would his heartbroken child. For quite a while he held her until she at last cried herself to sleep. He carefully lay her down and covered her up. For a while longer he stood at her bedside watching her sleep. There were times that he loved pushing her buttons just to test her patience. But let anyone dare try to harm her in any way and they would pay dearly at his hands.

"I know you are my master, but I will always see you as my little girl." He said. He knelt down and placed a gentle kiss upon her forehead. "Sleep well master." He whispered and vanished.
