Blood of Our Blood

Prologue

Manchester, England: Midnight...

Two scientist discussed the results of experiments they performed on heifers unable to reproduce. They had recieved a formula from a woman they knew only as Megan Le Fay. She was obscenely rich and heard about the men's attempts at trying to treat infertile women who desperately wanted to have children. She approached the men making them a proposition they could hardly refuse. In exchange for keeping her true identity secret and agreeing to use a formula she claimed would bring results to infertile women, she would give them financial support to fund their research. There was of course another part to the bargain. The formula which she would give them had to remain her secret.

Somewhat skeptical but nevertheless eager, the scientist agree with Megan and begin experimenting with the formula they were given. They begin experiments upon female cows unable to concieve. To their astonishment, the results are to say the least, astounding.

"This is amazing! Every heifer that we've experimented upon has produced one, and sometimes two calves!" Simon exclaimed.

"This could be the greatest breakthrough in fertility treatment science has ever seen." Said Eric, Simon's associate and partner.

"Eric, remember the deal. We can't share this formula with anyone else or we lose our funding. The secret has to stay with us. Besides, the scientific community would be far too skeptical of this discovery to let it remain with us. Not to mention if it should ever fall into the wrong hands." Simon replied.

"Yes...of course. But we should begin testing on human females as soon as possible. If we have the same results with women that we have with female cows, then we can make enough money to continue funding our operations." Eric said.

"Don't worry about money Eric. Miss Le Fay has agreed to fund our experiments for as long as we need. We've been at this for a year now with great results. We need to analyze the results. We need to study the calves and make sure that there are no negative side affects to this treatment. We also need to make sure there are no lasting side affects upon the mothers as well. All this needs to be done before we even think about testing on human females." Simon explained.

Eric said nothing. He simply nodded his head. He got a stern look in his eye as Simon turned his back.

Two days later....

"Yes. These heifers are useless to me. They're sterile and they're no use to me if they can't produce offspring." Eric said as he spoke to a slaughter house owner over the phone.

"Yes. They're healthy. The meat should be quite useful to you. I'll have them delivered to you immediately." He finished as he turned off his phone. Then he looked down at the crumpled heap that was his partner.

"Sorry Simon, but I'm afraid your finer sense of ethics just got in the way of my plans. Such a pity that you couldn't get over your aprehensions. Oh well, more profits for me anyway."
